Greater Bay Airlines launches first flight to Japan
Hong Kong’s local airway Greater Bay Airlines flew its first plane to Tokyo on Thursday, with plans to add flights to China’s Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu city this year.
Aircraft of the young low-cost carrier will land in Tokyo seven times per week from today, carrying around 150 people on its inaugural flight, with seat occupancy recorded at more than 80 percent.
This is the airway’s third landing point after it launched a regular service to Bangkok in July and a Taipei service in December last year.
"As a new local airline, Greater Bay Airlines will contribute to Hong Kong's status as an aviation hub with an innovative operating model," said Bill Wong Cho-bau, the Chairman of the Board of Greater Bay Airlines.
The airline also revealed that it will launch three flights per week from Hong Kong to Seoul starting next Tuesday and plans for routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Manila, and Osaka.
