Govt to aid local youth grasp GBA opportunities, says John Lee
Chief executive John Lee Ka-chiu said the SAR government will help local youth grasp opportunities in the mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area, allowing them to endeavor to the best of their abilities.
Speaking at an event on Monday, the Hong Kong leader said president Xi Jinping's report at the Community Party's 20th congress has underlined the country’s support towards the developments of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Lee said the establishment of the Steering Group on Integration into National Development outlined in his policy address has echoed President Xi’s plan, in which the SAR will press ahead with initiatives across bureaux and provide steer from a strategic and macro perspective to enhance communications with Mainland authorities.
Meanwhile, he noted that the government will regularise the GBA Youth Employment Scheme to help local youth explore opportunities in the mainland and to serve in the country’s high-quality development.
Separately, Lee said president Xi’s speech on Sunday after he was re-elected as General Secretary of the Communist Party had inspired him, in which Xi vowed for the party to always work alongside the people no matter the circumstances are.
The president said yesterday that “We will always ride out the storm with the people and stay heart to heart with them. Taking their priorities as ours and acting on their wishes, we will continue the hard work to turn their aspiration for a better life into a living reality.”
The CE said he would likewise strive to lead his administration in building a Hong Kong that is more united and full of hope, with his team serving the public with assiduity.
