Govt extends rent concession period for non-domestic tenants
The Housing Authority (HA) announced on Thursday to extend the rent concession period for six more months, during which 75 percent of rental or fee of eligible non-domestic tenants and carpark users can be waived.
Under the new measure, HA’s eligible non-domestic tenants/licensees and carpark users for monthly parking of commercial vehicles can continue to enjoy the rent concession from January 1 to June 30, 2023.
The eligible group can also apply for 100 percent rent concessions during the extended period, if their operation at the premises concerned is required to be closed under anti-epidemic regulations.
It is estimated that around 8,700 of the HA's non-domestic tenants/licensees and carpark users will benefit from the extension of rent concessions.
The rent foregone for this extension of the 75 percent rent concession for six months is estimated to be around HK$719 million, said HA.
It added the total rent foregone for rent concessions granted to its eligible non-domestic tenants/licensees for the 45 months period from October 1, 2019, to June 30 next year, is estimated to be around HK$4,720 million.
