Google releases list of most searched keywords in Hong Kong
Consumption voucher registration, the Tokyo Olympics and medalists Edgar Cheung Ka-long and Siobhan Haughey are among top 10 most searched keywords on Google in Hong Kong this year.
“Registration for consumption voucher scheme” ranked first as the “top trending keywords” of 2021. It was followed by “Olympic Games” and “vaccination appointment”.
Swimmer Haughey and fencer Cheung ranked sixth and seventh as most searched keywords. They and other athletes such as cyclist Sarah Lee Wai-sze, badminton athlete Angus Ng Ka-long, fencer Vivian Kong Man-wai and karate medalist Grace Lau Mo-sheung dominated the list of “trending people” this year.
Other keywords which make it to the top 10 list include Cantopop diva Anita Mui Yim-fong, ranking fifth, whose story has been made into a movie screening in cinemas right now. Netflix Korean drama series “Squid Game” ranked ninth, while Anson Lo Hon-ting, a member of the popular local boy band Mirror, ranked tenth.
The names of many local athletes can be found on the top ten list of most searched local figures, with Edgar Cheung, Siobhan Haughey and Sarah Lee taking the top three slots. Badminton athlete Angus Ng and fencing athlete Vivian Kong ranked fifth and sixth, while karate medalist Grace Lau ranked tenth.
