Girl, 15, alleged to be vice ringleader
A 15-year-old suspected female pimp will appear in a Kowloon City magistrates' court today for allegedly running a prostitution ring with her 22-year-old boyfriend.
She had been sentenced to juvenile home on multiple occasions and her family reported her missing last year when she was 14.
They filed another report after she went missing again early this year, skipping school and staying at her boyfriend's home in Mong Kok.
Sources said she allegedly persuaded people she had befriended at the juvenile home to take part in compensated dating but that she did not do it herself.
Her 22-year-old boyfriend and partner, Song, was allegedly responsible for searching for clients and arranging meetings on Telegram social media. The two would pair clients with girls and book hotel rooms.
Song was arrested with one of his clients, a 29-year-old man, Wan, who allegedly had sex with an under-aged girl, 14. Both men have been released on bail.
The teenager was arrested for attempting to recruit a policewoman in a sting operation launched by the Kowloon West regional crime unit after a social worker filed a police report when one of the girls used by the ringleader went to hospital to get herself checked for sexually transmitted disease.
The 15-year-old was arrested Friday night and charged with one count of control over persons for the purpose of unlawful sexual intercourse or prostitution and another count of causing prostitution.
An investigation found that the ringleader had taken an 80 percent cut in "agent fees" of the HK$10,000 that the 14-year-old was paid.
It is understood that in the sting operation, the policewoman posed as a 16-year-old girl and agreed to meet the ringleader. As soon as the girl revealed that she was the leader of a prostitution ring, attempting to gain another source of income, the officer revealed her identity and arrested the 15-year-old.
Her boyfriend, Song, was arrested on the same day. Wan was arrested on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 16.
Song and Wan are on police bail, and have to report to police next month.
Those found guilty of unlawful sexual intercourse or gross indecency with a girl under 16 and controlling prostitution are liable to imprisonment for three to 14 years.
