Free use of leisure facilities on 25th anniversary of the handover
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will spend close to HK$300 million to organise a series of culture and entertainment activities throughout the rest of the year, while the public will be able to use most of the recreational facilities free of charge on July 1, the 25th anniversary of the handover.
Indoor and outdoor recreational facilities as well as public swimming pools will be exempted from admission fees, while water sports equipment will have their rental fees waived. Football fields and holiday camps, however, are not free of charge.
Citizens can reserve facilities through the online system 7 days in advance, or make in-person reservations.
Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Liu Ming-kwong said that the Hong Kong Museum of Art and Science Museum will also hold a number of exhibitions including art and technology installations, dinosaur fossil showcases, and Chinese landscape paintings.
The LCSD will also work with K11 Group, Kerry Group and Sino Group to set up various outdoor installations along Victoria Harbour, Tamar Park, and the Tsim Sha Tsui and Hung Hom promenades.
