Four surprise lockdowns were announced within 90 minutes, targeting buildings in Tsim Sha Tsui, Yuen Long, Hung Hom and Yau Ma Tei.
The first two lockdowns began at 7pm on the 55-unit Majestic House on 80 Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui and the 78-unit Ho Choi Building on 42-58 On Hing Street, Yuen Long, with police officers simultaneously cordoning off the areas.
The third lockdown at 8pm came down on 379 units in all Blocks A to D of Loong King Mansion on 23-35 Ma Tau Wai Road in Hung Hom and a fourth one in Yau Ma Tei at 8.30pm on 142-148 and 150-160 Reclamation Street, 59A to C on Public Square Street and 2A on Wing Sing Lane.
Thousands of residents in the areas had to take the
Covid test by 2am tomorrow, with a target to confirm all test results before unsealing the areas by 7am so they could go to work as usual.
In the press releases, the government did not explain why the buildings required lockdowns rather than just mandatory tests.
Ho Choi Building has seen a 51-year-old infected male resident linked to the third runway construction site cluster, which has seen 15 cases.
