A man who was accused of raping his 13-year-old daughter and three other relatives have been convicted of conspiracy of perversion for asking the girl to change her testimony against her father.
The four were found guilty by a seven-man jury before High Court judge Alex Lee Wan-tang yesterday, with the other three being the girl’s mother, 42, grandmother, 67, and uncle, 38, who had visited the father when he was remanded for raping his daughter.
But the father, 44, was subsequently acquitted of rape after his daughter changed her testimony and said she made a false report on her father.
However, a follow up police investigation found the father to have instructed his relatives to pressure the girl not to testify in court, or to change her testimony.
The father and his wife were yesterday also convicted of another charge of intent to perversion.
The girl’s grandfather, 65, also faced the conspiracy to perversion charge but was acquitted.
Lee adjourned the hearing to Friday for mitigation and will hand down a sentence next Monday.
