Four key members of June 4 vigil alliance released on bail
Four leading members of a disbanded alliance that organized June 4 vigil have been released on bail on Friday, after they refused to provide information to national security police.
The four are Sean Tang Ngok-kwan, Simon Leung Kam-wai, Chan To-wai and Tsui Hon-kwong, members of the standing committee of the now-defunct Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China
They and the alliance's vice-chair Tonyee Chow Hang-tung were charged with failing to comply with the implementation rules of Article 43 of the national security law on September 8, for not providing information to national security police as requested.
The five appeared before acting chief magistrate Peter Law Tak-chuen in West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts on Friday morning.
Chow, Tang and Tsui saw their application for bail approved by Law. The magistrate also granted recognizances and released Leung and Chan who didn't apply for bail.
Chow and Leung, who disagreed on the prosecution's conditions, tried to revoke the bail but their request was denied by Law.
Although Chow has been released on bail in this case, she will be remanded in custody for her participation in other cases.
The case will be adjourned to January 25, 2022.
The conditions of their bail included being prohibited from publishing or distributing any speeches or remarks directly or indirectly that may breach national security law or may be viewed as endangering national security.
They must hand over all traveling documents and must not leave Hong Kong. They will also have to report to a police station every week.
