The four were identified by the initials of their names in Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts. C.H.Y., 23, C.K.Y., 25, L.H.Y., 25, and C.W.H., 28, were each charged with ill-treatment or neglect of children.

The charge alleged that they willfully assaulted one-year-old boy “T”, three-year-old boy “A”, one-year-old boy “R” and three-year-old girl “I” at the Mong Kok care home operated by Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children between November 6 and December 16.

Including these four carers, a total of six staffers of the care home have been arrested so far in this mass child abuse case involving 20 children. The other two faced the same charge and had appeared in court on Sunday.

Appearing before magistrate Andrew Mok Tze-chung in court this morning, the four carers didn't need to enter plea yet. Mok also adjourned he case to February 21, 2022, pending further police investigation.

They were each granted bail for HK$10,000. Until their next court mention, they must not leave the city and must hand over all traveling documents. Neither can they return to the care home on Portland Street, nor can they contact other staffers or children there directly or indirectly.

They must report to a police station twice a week and are banned from taking part in care work that involves children during this period.
