Health authority announced on Thursday that a total of 43 children in Kowloon Tong’s Beacon Hill School and Fanling’s Po Leung Kuk Yip Ng Bun Bun Queen’s Hill Kindergarten have shown symptoms of upper respiratory disease.
All the pupils and preschoolers are now in stable condition and showed negative results on
coronavirus tests, said the Department of Health.
The outbreak in Beacon Hill School involved 22 pupils, including nine boys and 13 girls aged between five to seven. They have shown symptoms since March 4, and none required hospitalization.
Infections appeared from February 28 in 21 children aged three to five in Po Leung Kuk Yip Ng Bun Bun Queen’s Hill Kindergarten, of whom 16 are boys, and five are girls. None of them were hospitalized, as all were in stable condition.
The Centre for Health Protection has advised the primary school and the kindergarten on preventing upper respiratory disease infections, including cleaning the environment, maintaining good ventilation, and segregating infected children from other children.
The two schools are under medical surveillance.
