Former leader CY Leung founded Guangzhou school for Hong Kong students
Former chief executive Leung Chun-ying has founded a non-profit school in Nansha, Guangzhou, catering to students from Hong Kong.
Minxin Hong Kong School will include both primary and secondary divisions.
Lower grades will adopt a Hong Kong-based curriculum. Grade 9 and 10 will incorporate International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum into the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education curriculum.
Grade 11 and 12 will have General Certificate of Education (GCE) (AS & AL) curriculum along with the Hong Kong DSE curriculum.
The school is in the process of considering adopting the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme curriculum in the future.
Minxin will welcome its first cohort of students this September, covering grades one to ten for the first school year.
The school's sponsoring body is a non-profit organization registered in Hong Kong.
The mission of Minxin is to nurture biliterate and trilingual students with roots in Hong Kong, a heart for China and a global outlook.
According to the school's website, the head of the school is Halina Poon Suk-han, former chairwoman of the Subsidized Secondary Schools Council.
