The former CEO of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, Paul Chow Man-yiu, has passed away at the age of 76.
His family confirmed that he died peacefully at a Hong Kong hospital on Thursday night, surrounded by family members.
Chow led the stock exchange for 13 years, first from 1992 to 1997, and then from 2003 until his retirement in 2010.
He played a significant role in the merger of the stock exchange and futures exchange and related clearing houses in 2000, which formed the present-day HKEX.
Before his tenure at HKEX, Chow served as the Chief Executive of the Asia Pacific ex-Japan Region of HSBC Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited from 1997 to 2003.
In 2010, he was appointed chairman of Cyberport Management Company's board of directors.
Chow leaves behind his wife, two sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grandchildren.
His contributions to the financial industry in Hong Kong will be remembered.
