Over 50 Hong Kong tourists were stranded at Japan’s Kansai International Airport on Sunday as a Japanese man entered the departure hall without holding a passport.
According to a
Facebook post of the local travel agency WWPKG, more than 50 passengers who were scheduled to board a flight from Kansai Airport to Hong Kong were forced to stay in the boarding hall for hours.
The hold-up was caused by a Japanese man who entered the departure hall without holding a passport and went to the boarding gate of a plane bound for Hong Kong. He was arrested by the Japanese police afterwards.
Yuen Chun-ning, Chief Executive Officer of WWPKG said that two travel groups of the company were affected by the incident. About 50 Hong Kong passengers set to travel on Cathay Pacific CX507, which should have departed at 5.50pm today, were delayed.
Yuen added that the flight was expected to be delayed by 1 to 3 hours.
Some tourists said that air traffic had gradually resumed after the incident.
