The five people, including the production director, the supervisor of the stage construction, and the project manager, according to the police, were in connection with the accident on July 28 in Hong Kong Coliseum, during which a giant video screen fell on the stage and hurt two dancers.

Four of the arrestees, aged 40 to 63, were working for the main contractor of the concert, Engineering Impact, and one from the subcontractor Hip Hing Loong Stage Engineering Company. All of them were charged with counts of fraud and allowing objects to fall from height.

One of the injured dancers, Mo Lee Kai-yin, was still under treatment for severe injury.

In the press conference yesterday, the police stressed that the equipment for the stage, such as LED monitor devices and loudspeakers, were detected with higher weight than the documents the contractors reported.

"The arrested were suspected of making false declarations of the weight of the equipment and devices for the concert when they submitted the application for holding the concert to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department," said officers.

"They were believed to have misled the department for getting the approval," police added.

Besides, police found the fallen video screen had already shown signs of a quality problem when being lifted into the air in the afternoon of the day when the accident occurred while no staff engaged had reported the issue.
