Asian Para Tenpin Bowling Championships Kicks Off in Hong Kong
The first Asian Para Tenpin Bowling Championships is being held in Hong Kong from 26-31 May.
The event is organized by the Asian Bowling Federation and the Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Disabled, with sponsorship from the Arts and Sports Development Fund and support from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress.
Participating countries and regions include China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
The opening ceremony was held on 27 May, and the chairman of the Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Disabled expressed hope that this competition would serve as a model for future sports events for the physically disabled.
Dr. John Leung Lai-yin, Chairman of another organizer, said that he had gained knowledge about sports for the physically disabled from this event and believed that bowling competitions organized by Hong Kong would be more remarkable than those by other cities.
