Fire breaks out in Yuen Long village house, mother and son hospitalised
A woman and her son were hospitalised after blazes broke out in a village house in Par Heung of Yuen Long on Sunday morning.
Firefighters received a report at around 4 am that a two-storey village house near Fan Kam Road was on fire with a 38-year-old woman and her son, 13, trapped inside.
The flames were extinguished by firefighters under one jet and one breathing apparatus team. The mother and son were found unconscious in the restroom on the upper floor.
They were rushed to hospitals while the mother was in critical condition.
Two firefighters burned on their arms and back respectively, as they failed to withdraw from the scene on time while putting out the fire.
A dog, who died of suffocation, was also found in the house.
A witness said the female, surnamed Tang, was a single mother living with her son and daughter.
Further investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
