Fire breaks out at rooftop of Yuen Long building, no casualty reported

A fire broke out at the rooftop of a Yuen Long building on Saturday evening with black smoke shooting into the sky as pedestrians said they heard the sound of explosion multiple times.

The building – Kwong Wah Centre – is located on 42 Fau Tsoi Street in Yuen Long.

The fire was reported to police around 6pm and firefighters soon arrived and put out the fire at 6.26pm. Medics and ambulances were spotted standing by in the area.

Some 20 people evacuated to safer places on their own and no casualty has been reported so far.

According to footage online, the fire occurred at the rooftop above a Chinese restaurant on the top floor of the center.
