Final Farewell: Funeral and Cremation of Dismembered Model Abby Choi Tin-fung
The funeral of dismembered 28-year-old model Abby Choi Tin-fung was held in a Buddhist ceremony at a temple in Ngong Ping, after which her remains were cremated.
The ceremony was attended by Choi's husband, Chris Tam, and her mother, Cheung Yin-fa, who led 100 of Choi's closest friends and family members in saying their final goodbye.
A black hearse draped in white and pink roses and pink curtains transported Choi's coffin to the monastery for cremation, and her husband, wearing sunglasses and a mask, boarded the hearse holding a portrait of his beloved.
The preparations for the funeral took two months, and the most difficult part was the recreation of Choi before she was dismembered, which cost about HK$2 million.
Over 1,000 relatives and friends attended the funeral, and wreaths from Choi's friends, including actors and singers, were seen.
Choi's ex-husband, his father, and two brothers were charged with her murder, and her former mother-in-law was charged with perverting the course of justice.
All four were remanded in jail until their next court appearance.
