Fan Ling family drama after attack by knife-wielding dad
A 49-year-old man, believed to have a history of mental illness, has been arrested after he allegedly attacked his wife and two children with a knife in their Fan Ling home on Tuesday.
The man, Yeung, was arrested for wounding at 4.10am yesterday. He was detained overnight.
On Tuesday, his wife Wong, 47, was admitted to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin while her 17-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter were sent to North District Hospital in Sheung Shui.
The three sustained injuries to the head and body.
Wong remained in stable condition at Prince of Wales Hospital's intensive care unit as of 11.50pm on Tuesday, while the son and daughter were allowed to leave after treatment.
At around 7pm on Tuesday, Yeung allegedly hacked Wong and their children with a knife in their fourth-floor flat in a tenement building on Wo Tai Street, police said.
Around 40 minutes later, a resident in the building notified the police, saying cries for help and sounds of metal striking the floor can be heard from the apartment.
In CCTV footage that was circulated online, Wong, in black clothing, is seen escaping to Wo Tai Street and hiding behind a taxi while waiting for help.
Meanwhile, Yeung, in a long-sleeved shirt and barefoot, staggered out of the building before running toward Luen Hing Street.
The roadside leading to the building's entrance was left with trails of blood and blood-stained tissues.
Police cordoned off the parking space in front of the building.
