The VR experience “I Will Sleep When I’m Dead” invites participants to venture into a world of brain neurons and synapses as they navigate through an infinite maze and cross endless paths of ‘thoughts’ that are delightfully represented by drawings that resemble pictograms.

It is an intense, unique experience with each participant having their own journey when they immerse themselves into the simulated world.

Presented for the first time in Hong Kong by the Council of the Hong Kong Laureate Forum (HKLF) and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau (CGF), this science-meets-art project is based on scientific research with added sensitivity and emotions from French artist Jeanne Susplugas.

Speaking on the project, Prof Timothy W Tong, BBS, JP, Chairman of the HKLF, said that the HKLF has been working closely with the CGF to promote various disciplines of science and technology among Hong Kong’s younger generation.

“We are excited to collaborate with CGF at the InnoCarnival to further promote the HKLF, French scientific culture, and most importantly, science and technology, to a wider audience and highlight research excellence in neurosciences,” he said.

Apart from the VR experience, participants will also find fun games with exciting prizes at HKLF’s booth at InnoCarnival 2021 from 23 to 31 October at the Hong Kong Science Park. All activities at InnoCarnival are free-of-charge.

“I Will Sleep When I’m Dead” also serves as a teaser for the upcoming ‘French Science Festival 2021 [BRAIN]STORM’, showcasing French excellence in neuroscience research, to be held from 5 to 22 November in Hong Kong.
