The English Schools Foundation - the largest English language-medium international school organization in Hong Kong - will offer each of its students a relief grant of HK$1,600 in light of the Covid pandemic.
The international school operator announced yesterday that the grant was being offered as part of its commitment to support families during this challenging time, with parents and caregivers in the city facing continued challenges due to
Covid.
The grants will be offered to around 18,000 students, said Vivian Cheung, the chief financial officer of ESF, in a letter yesterday.
Parents who have already paid for their children's tuition fees for June and opt in via the ESF Parent App from May 5 to 16 are eligible for the grant, according to the letter.
It also said that if parents have multiple children at ESF, they should complete a new form for each child.
The grant will be credited into the student's fee account in June and included in the June statement, Cheung added.
In addition, ESF has a financial assistance scheme to provide monetary support to families whose financial circumstances have seen significant change, the letter said.
Last month, ESF announced that the average fee will be increased by 2.9 percent for the academic year 2022/23 across all 22 of its schools.
In a letter issued to parents on April 26, the chief executive of ESF, Belinda Greer, said annual tuition for all school levels - primary, secondary and kindergartens - is set to increase by HK$80,000 to HK$180,000.
