Enraged driver kills a security guard in Sha Tin over parking toll issue
A driver was arrested for manslaughter after a security guard was found dead in a Sha Tin car park early Sunday.
A 69-year-old security guard, surnamed Yuen, was found lying at the Jat Min Chuen car park at 12.39 am. He was taken to the Prince of Wales Hospital and was declared dead at 1.03 am.
His cause of death is pending an autopsy report. The police suspected foul play involved and conducted an in-depth investigation by cordoning off the car park.
Officers said Yuen was seen arguing with a private car driver over the parking toll and had a physical altercation. It is learned that the enraged driver once punched Yuen in his face, and Yuen was later found lying unconscious in the booth.
The police searched the involved sedan, which was still at the site of the incident, and seized two grams of cannabis. The 29-year-old driver was later arrested for manslaughter and possession of dangerous drugs.
It is understood that the sedan was rented, and the driver had not left the area after the incident.
