Enjoy hassle-free departure experience as Flight Token begins full implementation
Hong Kong residents can now enjoy the convenience of completing the entire departure process, including the immigration departure procedures, at different self-service checkpoints of the Hong Kong International Airport.
Airport Authority Hong Kong announced the Flight Token, a self-service biometric identification system that enables passengers to enjoy a hassle-free departure journey, begins full implementation on Tuesday.
With Flight Token, passengers can pass through various departure checkpoints – from check-in and bag drop to security checks and boarding – by simply showing their faces and without presenting their travel documents and boarding passes.
Departing passengers can create a Flight Token that contains their travel document and boarding pass information after completing check-in procedures at Smart Check-in Kiosks.
After collecting the boarding pass and luggage tag via the kiosks, passengers can complete the self-baggage drop-off at specific counters.
When entering the Airport's restricted area to board, passengers with Flight Token can pass through the e-Security Gates by simply scanning their faces via camera for identity verification. They could then complete the immigration departure clearance process at Flight Token e-Channels.
Residents aged 11 or above traveling with participating airlines may register to use Flight Token for the entire departure journey.
The Flight Token e-Channels service is currently available for Hong Kong residents holding an HKSAR Passport or HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes or an electronic Home Visit Permit.
