Health officials announced the launch of electronic sick leave notes and medical certificates, along with online medical consultation issued previously, to allow patients to seek treatment without visiting a hospital in person.
Speaking in a press conference on Sunday, the Hospital Authority (HA) claimed more than 45,000 patients have used the online medical service since it launched at the end of 2019.
With the services, patients, among whom 50 percent are
Covid cases, could make appointments and video consultations with doctors through the “HA Go” App.
HA further planned to issue patients with electronic sick notes, medical treatment certificates, and the medication home-delivery service.
“We are also considering building cross-hospitals and cross-specialities services for the telemedical services, which could provide patients with different doctors for consultations simultaneously,” said Michael Wong Lap-kee, HA’s chief manager for cluster performance, noting it would reduce the referral and waiting time.
He added that only designated hospitals and clinics are available with the HA Go telemedical service.
“We hope to expand it to a larger range of out-patient services in hospitals,” Wong said.
