Elderly man stabbed by one who attempted to ask for cigarettes
A 74-year-old man was reportedly stabbed in Sham Shui Po by a man who asked for cigarettes from him.
It happened around 2am on Sunday at Pei Ho Street Public Open Space. The suspect tried to ask for cigarettes from the victim but was rejected, then pulled out a fruit knife, struck the man in the stomach and fled away.
The victim was spotted when he walked to the interchange of Nam Cheong Street and Hai Tan Street with the knife stabbed in his stomach and his white vest reddening by the blood. He was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in a conscious state.
Police said the 45-year-old suspect, whose surname is Cheung, turned himself in one hour after the incident and was taken into custody.
The case was handed over to Sham Shui Po Division Police Station for further investigation.
