Eight of the 12 Hongkongers caught by mainland authorities as they tried to flee by sea to Taiwan will be handed over to Hong Kong police next Monday after finishing their 7-month jail term in Shenzhen, says a report by Sing Tao Daily.
The eight, Andy Li Yu-hin, Cheng Tsz-ho, Cheung Chun-fu, Cheung Ming-yu, Yim Man-him, Lee Tsz-yin, Kok Tsz-lun and Wong Wai-yin will return to the city through Shenzhen Bay Port, and will then be escorted to the Tin Shui Wai Divisional Police Station.

The Yantian People's Court in Shenzhen earlier sentenced the eight to prison for seven months and fined them 10,000 yuan each.

While Tang Kai-yin and Quinn Moon, who were sentenced to three years and two years in jail respectively, will remain in Shenzhen to finish their prison terms.

Earlier, two minor within the group of twelve - Hoang Lam-phuc and Liu Tsz-man, were returned to the Hong Kong police in December last year after Shenzhen authorities decided not to prosecute them.

Quote of the Day

“This last is important. Even in corporate environments, it is very difficult to remove an underling for incompetence if that underling has seniority and a long history of good performance reviews. As in government bureaucracies, the easiest way to deal with such people is often to “kick them upstairs”: promote them to a higher post, where they become somebody else’s problem.”
