John Lee Chi-kin, currently Vice President and Provost, and Chair Professor of Curriculum and Instruction at the Education University of Hong Kong will become the institute’s next President, with the five-year term beginning on September 1 next year.
In announcing the new appointment, EdUHK Council Chairman David Wong Yau-kar said Lee is a passionate educator and renowned scholar of high international standing.
“He is considered the best person to lead the University to excel in its next phase of development, given his track record at EdUHK as well as his vision, strategies and plans for the way forward,” said Wong.
“The Council has every confidence in his commitment to strengthening EdUHK’s role as a leading center of excellence in education, bolstering research, enhancing the quality of teacher education and fostering collaboration with partners in the Greater Bay Area and other parts of the world, among other strategic priorities.” He added.
Lee joined the university in 2010. His research interests focus on curriculum and instruction, geographical and environmental education, life and values education as well as teacher development and school improvement.
