Duo arrested on suspicion of shooting monkeys in Kam Shan Country Park
Two men were arrested on Friday on suspicion of shooting monkeys with airsoft guns in a Hong Kong country park.
Police officers seized an air rifle and an air pistol, along with compressed air tanks and a paper box used for target practice, according to police.
The police force was alerted of the incident by hikers at around 2 pm today, with the two men in their 30s alleged to have fired their airsoft guns at monkeys near a pavilion on section 6 of MacLehose Trail.
Officers later intercepted the duo and arrested them for possession of arms without a license.
The Sham Shui Po district crime unit has taken over the investigation and is investigating whether the two intentionally shot at the monkeys nearby.
