Drunk shuttle bus driver arrested after hitting pole on airport runway, injuring 11
Police arrested a 51-year-old driver for drink-driving on Sunday night after the shuttle bus he drove hit a pole on the runway at Hong Kong International Airport.
The incident happened at around 10 pm yesterday when the shuttle bus - hired by an airport security company - was taking its passengers to the construction site of the airport's third runway project.
Eleven male security staffers on board, aged 19 to 59, all sustained slight injuries and were brought to North Lantau Hospital for treatment.
The driver failed to pass the alcohol test and was arrested for drunk driving.
Police said the vehicle had the capacity to sit 27 people, with 15 on board during the time of the incident.
