A Hong Kong driver with no licence and suspected drugs in his car was arrested after he crashed into a police vehicle at an Easter weekend roadblock and sped away.
The 27-year-old man failed to stop in the early hours of Sunday after officers signalled for him to pull over and instead accelerated in a bid to escape.
He hit and damaged a police vehicle as he raced away.
Police at the checkpoint on Tsuen Wan Road, Tsuen Wan, chased after the car, which headed in the direction of Tsing Yi.
The car was spotted on Tam Kon Shan Road in Tsing Yi, about 3km from the scene of the 4am incident and officers arrested the driver after a struggle.
A small amount of what was suspected to be crack cocaine was also found in the car.
The man was arrested for drug possession, having no driving licence and no third party insurance and is also alleged to have taken the car without authorisation.
It is further alleged the driver did not provide proof of identity, resisted arrest, drove dangerously and failed to stop after an incident.
He was detained for questioning.
The police check was part of an Easter holiday operation against drink and drug driving mounted on Saturday and Sunday.
A total of 1,227 drivers were given breath tests and police issued 157 tickets for speeding.
