Driver and 14 minibus passengers sent to hospital after Tolo Highway crash
A minibus driver and 14 passengers were sent to hospital in the early hours on Saturday after the runaway car crashed into a construction vehicle on Tolo Highway.
The route 58S green minibus was traveling along the highway and heading towards Sha Tin when the incident occurred around 3.52am. The front of the minibus was severely damaged and the bumper and license plate fell off after the collision.
The 68-year-old driver surnamed Chui was once trapped in his seat but was later rescued by firefighters in a conscious state.
The other 14 passengers, seven men and eight women aged 18 to 70, sustained minor injuries on the other hand. They successfully got off the minibus using the emergency exit at the rear end with the assistance of firefighters.
It was understood that the minibus rebounded and went across four driving lanes on the highway before it crashed into the stone curb by the side and finally stopped.
