A 32-year-old cop was arrested after he assaulted another 23-year-old man over a dispute at Knutsford Terrace in the early hours today.
The cop, surnamed Keung, for arrested for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
According to sources, the cop was accompanied by four other cops as well, including Chau Ho-haung, who once was an inspector of police public relations branch. Chau, also a former TVB reporter, is now serving at the Wan Chai district crime squad.
Sources added that Keung serves at police's counter terrorism response unit. He was leaving a bar in Tsim Sha Tsui around 4am today and was trying to enter an elevator which the doors were closing. But he was hit by the doors and started arguing with the 23-year-old Wong who was in the elevator as well.
The argument soon escalated into a fight. The four other cops immediately dispersed the two parties. The 23-year-old then saw his neck injured and filed a report to police.
He has been remanded for questioning. The case is now handled by Yau Tsim Mong regional crime unit.
Police responded to the incident and said that they highly value about the discipline of officers. They added there will not be tolerance if any officer breaks the law and the incident will be handled in a serious manner.
