Consultation on opening the Avenue of Stars for dog walking to end next Mon
The consultation period for allowing dog walking in the Avenue of Stars and East Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront Podium Garden will last until next Monday.
District Councilor Leo Chu Tsz-lok recently posted on his social media platform that the Leisure and Cultural Services Department was collecting views on classifying the Avenue of Stars and East Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront Podium Garden as inclusive parks for pets.
The LCSD had consulted the proposal concerned in September last year. However, they received opposition and shelved the proposal.
Chu said the LCSD had re-proposed the plan and excluded the promenade section outside the East Tsim Sha Tsui commercial area. It might be a compromised proposal regarding the previous one.
Upon approval, pet owners will be able to enjoy the space with their dogs or other pets.
Citizens left messages to support the proposal, saying that Hong Kong's pet policy has way left behind and is in need of more inclusive parks. However, some are still worried about the hygiene condition after pets come in.
Chu appealed to the public to reflect their opinions during the consultation period so that they can be integrated and conveyed to the government.
