Concrete Falls from Hong Kong Building for Third Time in Nine Days, Damaging Mercedes-Benz
Concrete fell from an old building in Mong Kok, Hong Kong, damaging the roof of a passing Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
This is the third such incident in nine days.
The latest incident occurred at the Fuk Keung Industrial Building, built in 1980, where a concrete chunk fell from a canopy outside a warehouse on the fourth floor.
The building's owners' corporation, owner, and tenants were not contacted by the police.
Two similar incidents occurred at the Po On Building on July 2 and 5, and chunks of concrete rained down again on July 8.
The building's 16th floor was found to have unauthorized construction, and the building's owners' corporation, owner, and tenants were not contacted by the authorities.
The government may arrange for contractors to take over the inspections if building owners ignore the notices.
