Citizens welcome a footloose Ching Ming grave sweeping post-pandemic
The Ching Ming festival this year was the first after the return of normalcy post-pandemic, with the abolition of masks and social gathering restrictions. Citizens said they could finally meet their ancestors as a group and not have to go separately.
Some residents have also bought paper offerings for Ching Ming Festival without caring about the cost as they believe it is something they should be doing out of respect as the descendants.
Some opt to bring paper flowers instead of joss paper out of environmental concerns.
A paper offerings shop owner stated that as society normalizes, sales would likely be better than during the pandemic period, which can also be attributed to the Ching Ming Festival but believes that the sales will continue to grow as the years go on.
Adding that the price of offerings from the Mainland has increased this year, he has no plans to adjust the price for now.
