Citizens warned against border reopening fake news
A piece of fake news from last year saying mainland authorities will lift travel restrictions on Hongkongers starting June 7 has resurfaced.
The article, which does not credit any source, claims there was an internal assessment within the government that border control can be relaxed on June 7.
From then on, Hongkongers will be able to cross into mainland and Macau without 14-day quarantine if they have documents to prove their health.
The Food and Health Bureau rejected the rumors, saying it was fake news which started last year.
Under existing measures, Hongkongers must be quarantined in a specific premise for 14 days when entering Guangdong province. They should be tested negative within 24 hours before their border crossing.
