Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the Centre for Health Protection's Communicable Disease Branch and government adviser on the coronavirus epidemic, Yuen Kwok-yung had arrived in Block B of Phase 3 Kwan Yick Building in Sai Ying Pun at around 6pm to inspect a Covid-hit building.
Along with health officials from the Department of Health, Chuang met with Central and Western District Officer David Leung to discuss how the follow-up work at the building is going to be conducted.
According to the Centre for Health Protection, a 25-year-old man who lives in the building was diagnosed with
Covid today. A household that lives right below the male patient was said to have also contracted
Covid by the middle of the month.
Chuang, during this afternoon’s daily virus briefing, said the building had been under lockdown on March 17, the male patient was tested negative for the virus by then.
“It is possible that the man had a longer incubation period, which was not flagged in the previous testing. Although the man could still be infected from elsewhere, it is best to retest every resident living in the building,” said Chuang.
