Chief Justice Andrew Cheung to kick start four-day Beijing visit on Sun
Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Andrew Cheung Kui-nung, will depart for Beijing on Sunday night (May 21) for a four-day visit, during which he will meet with Chief Justice Zhang Jun, the new President of China’s Supreme People’s Court.
Cheung’s trip to Beijing will also include a visit to the smart court laboratory of the Supreme People’s Court, the Beijing Financial Court, and the Beijing International Commercial Court, where he will discuss and exchange views on issues relating to professional judicial work and use of technology in court operations.
Chief Justice Cheung will also pay courtesy calls on the HKSAR Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, the Ministry of Justice, and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.
Chief Justice Jeremy Poon Shiu-chor of the High Court, Vice-President of the Court of Appeal Carlye Chu Fun-ling, and Judiciary Administrator Esther Leung Yuet-yin will also join Cheung on this trip.
During Chief Justice Cheung’s absence from Hong Kong, Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal, Roberto Ribeiro, will be the Acting Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal.
