Chan Wing-kwong secured the most votes as four lawmakers under Election Committee constituency elected
A by-election to fill four Legislative Council seats under the Election Committee constituency was held on Sunday, with Chairman of the Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners Association Chan Wing-kwong securing the most votes.
Chan, from the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong, received 1,028 votes from 1,307 Election Committee members who cast their votes.
The other elected included associate dean for engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong William Wong Kam-fai (983 votes); Adrian Ho King-hong from the New People's Party (833 votes) and General manager of artificial intelligence software firm SenseTime Hong Kong Shang Hailong (812 votes).
The turnout rate of the by-election stands at 90.7 percent. Adopting the 'block vote' voting system, each Election Committee member must elect exactly four candidates, or the ballot paper is regarded as invalid.
The Legco seats became vacant after four lawmakers joined the administration in July.
They are Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak Mei-kuen, deputy secretary for justice Horace Cheung Kwok-kwan, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong and the director of audit Nelson Lam Chi-yuen.
