Chief Secretary Eric Chan Kwok-ki will head a committee vetting the eligibility of election candidates, replacing Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po.
Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu also appointed Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak Mei-kuen to be an official member of the Candidate Eligibility Review Committee.
Their appointments commenced yesterday.
Paul Chan was appointed as the committee's chairman in April by then chief executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor after Lee left the chief secretary post to run for the top job.
Eric Chan and Mak joins Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Erick Tsang Kwok-wai and Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung as official members, while the non-official members are former justice secretary Elsie Leung Oi-sie, ex-Legislative Council president Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai and ex-Chinese University president Lawrence Lau Juen-yee.
