Olympics gold medalist Edgar Cheung Ka-long says he felt comfortable modeling for Dior, and that it felt like he was in a fencing match.
The photo shoot has drawn mixed comments earlier, with some questioning his look and make up. Netizens joked that he looked similar to actors Steven Ma Chun-wai and Andy Hui Chi-on.
In a press event on Sunday, the athlete said he did not pay attention to his “resemblance” with other celebrities.
But he revealed that he sought advice from his fencing teammate Nicholas Choi Ho-yin, who was more used to doing commercial photo shoots.
He felt comfortable doing the shooting, just like when he is in a fencing match, he said.
Cheung said he is still adapting to attending public events, and that he has no plan to join the entertainment industry. He will focus on athletic achievements, he said.
“I am not very used to such events yet, but I am slowly adapting. I need some time to adapt to (being a public figure) as I am an athlete,” he said.
