CE sees 2023 mainland border reopening ‘highly possible’
Chief Executive John Lee said it’s “highly possible” to reopen the border with mainland China in 2023, in a further sign of the removal of strict Covid protocols.
Lee said in a Weibo post that he hopes for the step-by-step restoration of exchanges with Shenzhen, the technology-hub metropolis near Hong Kong in Guangdong Province.
He outlined an increase of the quarantine hotel-room quota to 2,500 per day, from 500 a day, starting Thursday.
Lee also flagged an adjustment of transport arrangements for cross-border trucks.
