CE Lee reopens Sikh Temple with speech after five years of renovations
After five years of renovation work, Khalsa Diwan Hong Kong, a Sikh temple located at the junction of Queen's Road East and Stubbs Road, reopened its doors on Tuesday.
Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu made a speech during the opening ceremony where he pointed out that Hong Kong is a caring and inclusive society, and the Basic Law will defend the freedom of religion for citizens.
Lee followed the Sikh customs of wrapping his head in a turban and taking off his shoes before entering the temple.
He also added that he believes Hong Kong Sikhs will try their utmost to support the city in creating a harmonious society.
