Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu led a government and Legislative Council delegation to visit Dongguan and Foshan on Sunday as they continued the visit to the Greater Bay Area.
The delegation visited the Hong Kong International Airport Logistics Park in Dongguan and learned about the Hong Kong-Dongguan joint cargo transport service with the company of the Airport Authority Chief Executive Officer Fred Lam Tin-fuk.
Lee then visited Huawei Town and got on the red campus train with the Secretary of the CPC Dongguan Municipal Committee Xiao Yafei and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Huawei Guo Ping.
He then had lunch with Hong Kong merchants and headed to Foshan to join with the other delegation led by Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan Kwok-ki.
Lee visited the Emergency Command Center after he arrived in Foshan and learned about the city management data system, which can be used for crowd management and rescue. He believes the platform is similar to the Hong Kong ones and will study the possibility of new updates for the Hong Kong system.
He then visited a manufacturer of industrial robots and said he was deeply impressed by the corporate ability to manufacture a large robot in only half an hour.
Separately, the delegation led by Eric Chan, with the company of Foshan Mayor Bai Tao, visited the robot manufacturing company under Country Garden on Sunday morning.
The founder of Country Garden, Yang Guoqiang, presented their construction robots and invited them to visit a nearby restaurant to taste the food and drinks made by robots.
Lawmakers hoped to cooperate with the mainland authorities in introducing construction robots to Hong Kong to speed up the building process and protect workers' lives.
The group then visited the 500-year-old Nanfeng Kiln, a national key cultural relics protection site in Foshan that was built in Ming Dynasty. The kiln has been bumming and producing ceramics in its original way all along until today.
The delegation will participate in the evening banquet hosted by Foshan City.
