A 53-year-old Cathay cargo flight pilot tested positive for the L452R mutant strain after receiving three doses of BioNTech vaccines, authorities reported on Sunday.
The pilot, who triggered a lockdown in Tai Kok Tsui on Saturday night, was the only imported case confirmed on Sunday.
He departed from the city on November 3 for Germany and returned on November 7 by flight CX3166.
Although his test result upon arrival at Hong Kong was negative, he tested preliminary positive on Friday during compulsory testing in accordance with the relevant requirements for exempted persons.
His residence at Hampton Place in Tai Kok Tsui was locked down on Saturday night. No new cases were found during the exercise.
