Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor will resume duties as Hong Kong's Chief Executive on Monday, a week after she fractured her right elbow at the Government House.
Lam took leave from work after she fell at home on Monday last week. Her elbow was put in a cast after an overnight stay at Queen Mary Hospital.
“I will resume my duties as the Chief Executive tomorrow (Monday). But it will take some time and physiotherapy before a full recovery,” she said.
Lam had said the injury provided a good opportunity for her -- a chief executive that cannot stop working -- to have a good rest. She had not taken leave for almost three years and had been very busy her policy address her on October 6.
With more time at home, she realized it has been two years since the Government House open day was suspended due to the pandemic, depriving citizens of the chance to see its blossoming rhododendrons.
