Carrie Lam to get the coronavirus jab today

Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, together with a number of government principal officials, will receive the Covid jabs at the Community Vaccination Centre at the Exhibition Gallery of Hong Kong Central Library today.
Lam earlier said she will get the first authorized vaccine arriving in the city, which is the COVID-19 vaccine produced by mainland firm Sinovac Biotech.

The first million doses of Sinovac jabs have landed in Hong Kong last Friday, while the government’s medical advisers declared the Sinovac jab suitable for healthy people aged over 60 amid concern over the potential risks for elderly recipients.

With the city’s inoculation program set to kick off this Friday, the government is looking to administrate the vaccines across 29 community vaccinations in the city’s 18 districts, and in more than 1,500 private clinics, 18 general outpatient clinics under the Hospital Authority, as well as care facilities for the elderly and disabled.

Five groups of people would be given priority, including health workers, those aged 60 and older, residents and staff of elderly and disabled care homes, people who provide essential public services, and cross-border transport workers such as truck drivers, air and sea crew.

Quote of the Day

Until justice is blind to color, until education is unaware of race, until opportunity is unconcerned with the color of men's skins, emancipation will be a proclamation but not a fact.
