Cannabis possession rap for flee-to-Taiwan bid organizer
Quinn Moon, one of the 12 arrested speedboat fugitives who failed to flee to Taiwan, has been charged with the possession of dangerous drugs and perverting the course of justice in her absence.
The 35-year-old jobless Moon, could not appear in a Fan Ling magistrates' court yesterday to face her charges as she was undergoing quarantine.
The court adjourned the case to September 6 or the earliest practicable date.
Moon was handed over to Hong Kong police by their mainland counterparts at Shenzhen Bay Port on Monday and transferred to the Tin Shui Wai police station, after serving her two- year sentence in the mainland for organizing an illegal border crossing.
She is one of the 12 Hongkongers caught by mainland authorities while trying to flee to Taiwan on August 23, 2020.
Moon was charged with possession of 2.98 grams of cannabis in herbal form in a room at Lee Man Building on Tung Choi Street, Mong Kok on January 14, 2020.
She was also charged with perverting the course of public justice between January 2020 and August 23, 2020, in which she "obstructed and hindered" police investigation and criminal proceedings linked to her attempted escape from Hong Kong with 11 others.
Police said they are seeking advice on action against her from the Department of Justice for making explosive substances.
