Bus driver arrested for dangerous driving causing death in Kwai Chung fatal crash
Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Kwai Chung Tuesday morning in which a 46-year-old man died. A bus driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death.
At 11.13am yesterday, a bus; a medium goods vehicle (MGV); and a light goods vehicle (LGV) were traveling along Kwai Chung Road towards Tsuen Wan.
When approaching MTR Lai King Station, the bus reportedly stopped to cope with a passenger’s inquiry, the subsequent MGV slowed down but the LGV failed to stop and collided with the MGV, the MGV then rammed into the bus.
The LGV driver was trapped and later rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious leg injuries, he was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in an unconscious state and was certified dead at 12.34pm. The MGV driver, a 54-year-old bus male passenger were sent to hospital for medical treatment in a conscious state.
The bus driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He is being detained for further inquiries. The investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.
